BREAKING: NHL player with over 1200 games played announces retirement!

Patrik Elias announced on Friday that he is retiring as an NHL player after 20 seasons in the League. NHL.com interviewed him, here's what he had to say about the last step of his career:

"I'm good with it," Elias told NHL.com. "I'm fortunate enough that ownership and the whole organization and everybody and the coaches and the guys gave me the time and the opportunity to come to the decision on my own time. That's just so important because I cannot imagine how hard it is for some guys when their careers end overnight. That's got to be unbelievably tough."

Patrick Elias played 1240 games in the NHL. He scored 408 goals and registered 617 assists for a total of 1025 points. He played his entire career with the New Jersey Devils.

Elias is a former second round pick (51 overall) of the 1994 NHL entry Draft.
