Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov will reportedly not be punished for his brutal hit from behind on Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere.
Call it hitting from behind, call it boarding, call it whatever you want… Komarov has escaped justice for the dangerous play from last night’s 4-2 Flyers victory.
Here is the hit in question:
No penalty was assessed on the play and Gostisbehere did manage to stay in the game for the rest of the 2nd period, but he didn’t return for the 3rd. No word yet on his injury status long-term.
Komarov, for his part, didn’t believe he did anything wrong on the play.
Evidently, neither did the NHL.
