The Jimmy Vesey saga has finally come to an end today, as the highly sought-after prospect has chosen his new team.

The New York Rangers have announced that they have come to terms on a new contract with the 2016 Hobey Baker award winner on Friday. The 23-year old college standout courted his share of teams during his before coming to this decision, as the Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Toronto Maple Leafs were all potential landing spots.

It has been quite the journey for Vesey, who chose to exercise his right to test the free agent waters, and not sign with the Nashville Predators, who selected him in the third round (66th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.

His rights were obtained by the Sabres from the Predators in exchange for a third-round pick at this year's draft. The Sabres appeared to be heavy players for his services, but it appears that Vesey chose to play in the Big Apple instead.

Many also believed that Vesey would sign with his hometown Bruins after spending his collegiate career at Harvard. It appears the Rangers have outbid them as well.

The NCAA's top man recorded 56 goals and added 48 assists in 70 games, a stellar average of 0.8 goals and 1.49 points per contest. He also captured a bronze medal as a member of USA's World Championship in May.

Listed as 6'2/ 195 pounds, his combination of size and speed made him a very desirable asset to many team's across the league. Rangers' fans will be happy about this decision, while other fans may be left scratching their heads over his choice.

This was not one many people saw coming.
