Washington Capitals star forward T.J. Oshie has been injured after an unfortunate series of events.
On Monday night with his Washington Capitals facing off against the San Jose Sharks, Oshie was engaged in a tough battle in the corner when he took a devastating hit to the head from National Hockey League veteran Joe Thornton.
Now it's hard to put too much blame on Thornton for this one as he delivered the hit to Oshie while Oshie was falling to his knees as a result of his battle in the corner for the puck.
The result was Oshie's head being crushed between Thornton's butt and the boards and after the hit Oshie stayed down on the ice, motionless, for a long time.
He would eventually head to the Capitals dressing room and has not returned. Hopefully he will be ok.
Update: This article has been updated with a second, longer and higher quality, video of the incident.
