NHL Team Experienced Mechanical Issue on the Aircraft Last Night

The Columbus Blue Jackets were playing against the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh last night. They lost the game 2-1 in overtime but things could have ended much worse for the team as the team aircraft has been forced to come back in the middle of the flight. As reported by Tom Reed from The Columbus Dispatch

There was a mechanical issue on the aircraft,” team president of hockey operations John Davidson told The Dispatch. “It was something to do with a generator. You have to follow protocol and they recommended coming back.” Davidson added: “there are three generators on the plane and because of inclement weather in Chicago, the flight crew didn’t want to risk going forward.”

When asked about if the players and the team management were panicking, John Davidson replied:

Not at all, honest to God,” he said. “They said everything was fine. I wouldn’t (BS) you. It was actually quite normal. They would rather go back than have an issue.
