Breaking: NHL team has accused newspaper fabricating shocking story.

There are some pretty massive accusations flying on both sides here.

First, yesterday we brought to you news that the Glendale Star had published a report that claimed Arizona Coyotes ownership had engaged in a tour of arenas on the West Coast of the United States, presumably in an effort to scout potential arenas for an eventual relocation of the team.

While the Coyotes denied those rumors yesterday, officials from KeyArena in Seattle appeared to confirm those rumors when they stated that a member of the Coyotes organization had in fact been a part of a tour of their arena.

On Thursday however the denials from the Coyotes went to a whole new level with owner Anthony LeBlanc calling them complete fabrications.

"Recent reports by the Glendale Star that the Coyotes ownership group has explored arena options outside the Arizona market are completely false,” said LeBlanc as per NBC Sports."

LeBlanc also added that the team remains committed to an arena in Arizona, however given the circumstances surrounding his organization the following statement sounded like an absurd pipe dream more than a reality.

“The Coyotes are focused on creating one of the most taxpayer friendly facilities in the country here in the Valley. This new arena will pay for itself, create jobs and generate millions of dollars of revenue for the state, county and municipality where it’s built. We are fully committed to Arizona.”

It's hard to tell who is telling the truth here, and unfortunately given the Coyotes' history we aren't prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.
