The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that they’ve released forwards Drew Miller and John Mitchell, as well as defenseman Mark Stuart from their professional tryout (PTO) contracts.

The NHL veterans account for well over 1700 career NHL games, but will have to find another way to keep their careers going after being cut loose by the Hawks. The three cuts shouldn’t really come as a surprise, as the team is transitioning to a younger group for 2017-18. Look for youngsters like Laurent Dauphin, Alex DeBrincat, Ryan Hartman, John Hayden, Nick Schmaltz to make an impact up front and keep a close eye on Gustav Forsling and Henri Jokiharju as they attempt to crack the team’s blue line.
