Breaking: NHL team requests permission to talk to Capuano!
Keystone Press

"Two sources told Newsday that at least one team has reached out to the Islanders to request permission to speak with Capuano. The sources did not identify the team, but aside from the Islanders, only the Florida Panthers and expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights are without a permanent coach." as per the Arthur Staple Newsday.

Las Vegas?

George McPhee, general manager of the Las Vegas Golden Knights, was a special adviser for Garth Snow and worked with Capuano for two years. There is indeed a connection here between the two men. Capuano led the Islanders to their first playoff series since 1993 last year. McPhee being on the outside looking in certainly realizes how much of an achievement that was.

What about the Panthers?

As for the Panthers, rumor has Tom Rowe won't be the general manager AND the head coach for much longer. Is Rowe looking for someone else to coach the Panthers or are they looking for another General Manager? If i was Rowe, i'd step down from the coaching job as upper management staff usually lasts longer.
