Breaking: NHL to change offside rules

This just in courtesy of TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger, the NHL is expected to make changes to its offside rules in the near future.

No specifics yet, but it's believed that the changes are being made in response to the ridiculously laborious and detailed Coach's Challenge reviews on offside calls. Really... we're going to call a goal back because someone's skate was a fraction of a centimetre in the air? Absolutely ridiculous.

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I'd love to see the NHL do away with the stupid offside review challenge in the first place. We've yet to see a goal where a player was significantly and obviously offside called back due to a challenge. In 99% of the cases we're literally splitting hairs and determining whether a play was onside or not... oh and whether or not the player is onside is almost always inconsequential to the goal. It's idiotic. Do away with this stupid, silly rule already.
