The Vancouver Canucks may be fighting for a spot in this playoff hunt, the 7-4 wins over the Ottawa Senators came at a price last night when poor Ashton Sautner was slammed into the boards in a dangerous hit by Jean-Gabriel Pageau.

What is even scarier is that the Canucks did not send Sautner to undergo concussion protocol, however, the Department of Player Safety did do its job on Thursday morning when it called Pageau to have a hearing later today for his boarding call on the Canucks defenseman.

Pageau crushed Sautner against the boards in the second period of the game. Upon the impact, Sautner's stick went flying as his face hit the glass quite hard. The blue liner needed to get on all four as the rest of his teammates rushed to Pageau to let him know he was in trouble. Luke Schenn tried to fight the Senators forward, however, officials broke it off in order to get Sautner some help.

Pageau was given a minor boarding penalty on the play, and Sautner returned to the game.

Let's see if the Sens forward will have to pay more for his actions...
