A National Hockey League veteran has officially put an end to his career.

The very first draft pick in the history of the Nasville Predators. center David Legwand, has announced his retirement after a whopping 1163 career NHL games.

Legwand was the second overall draft pick in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft and went on to play in 16 NHL seasons, almost all of them with the Nashville Predators with the exception of his final three seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Detroit Red Wings, and Buffalo Sabres.

Over his career Legwand would account for 228 goals and 390 assists for 618 career points a great career by any standard, especially for a player who's legacy was laying the foundation of a successful expansion franchise.
