Breaking: NHL veteran has been cut from his contract.

A highly-respect National Hockey League veteran has been cut from his contract.

According to a breaking news report from the Los Angeles Kings organization, 34-year-old forward Brooks Laich has been cut by the team after he cleared unconditional waivers on Monday.

It appears that the center, who has played a whopping 776 games in his NHL career, and the Los Angeles Kings have agreed to mutually terminate his contract, although why Laich himself would accept such a deal is currently unclear.

This does however technically make Laich a free-agent, and he therefore would be able to sign with any NHL team that may have interest in adding veteran depth up the middle of the ice.

Laich had appeared in 12 games for the Kings this season, recording just a single point over that stretch.
