Breaking: NHL veteran has been given permission to seek a trade.

We had a huge trade rumor in the National Hockey League on Monday but, while trade talk is never officially confirmed, we are confident in stating that is much more than just a rumor at this point. 

Two additional sources have now come out and confirmed that the Pittsburgh Penguins are in fact attempting to orchestrate a trade for veteran defenseman Ian Cole, trying so hard that they have now given his agent permission to talk to rival teams. 

That particular piece of information has been confirmed by Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman and National Hockey League reporter Katie Brown. This appears to indicate that Kevin Magnuson, the agent for Cole, will be seeking a trade that will include a new contract for his client who is an unrestricted free-agent at the end of this NHL season.

Should Magnuson be successful, this would mean a better deal for Cole himself and it would also allow the Penguins to seek a bigger return in exchange for the former first round draft pick.
