Swedish Elite League team Djurgårdens have announced that they have signed former NHLer Rene Bouque to a one-year contract. Bourque played 11 seasons in the NHL for the Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets and the Colorado Avalanche

Bourque managed just 12 goals and 18 points in 65 games with the lowly Avs in 2016-17 and as a result failed to catch on with an NHL club this offseason. The 35-year-old winger is far removed from his career high of 27 goals and 58 points in 2009-10 with the Flames and, in fact, hasn’t crested 20 points in a season since 2014.

The big, 6’2”, 217 lb native of Lac La Biche, Alberta has never played outside of North America, so look for him to make an adjustment in 2017-18.
