Breaking: NHL veteran of over 800 games announces retirement in incredible fashion!

That is one hell of a way to announce your retirement.

In a stunning breaking news report from Sportsnet insider Chris Johnston, we have learned that Montreal Canadiens veteran forward Steve Ott has retired from the game of hockey in incredible fashion.

That's because Johnston's announcement is not focused on the retirement of Ott, but rather on the fact that he has been hired as one of the new assistant coaches for the St. Louis Blues. Ott will join head coach Mike Yeo, as well as assistant Darry Sydor, behind the bench of the Blues as he begins the next stage of his hockey career.

Ott entered the league as a player during the 2002-2003 season and quickly made a reputation for himself as one of the grittiest players in the game. His career ends with 848 games played and over that stretch he recorded 109 goals and 179 assists for a total of 288 points.
