A veteran of over 1000 National Hockey League games may have finally lost an ongoing battle with his demons.

In a shocking interview with Richard Labee of La Presse, the agent for former Nashville Predator's forward Mike Ribeiro revealed that his client's career is almost certainly over.

During the interview Bob Perno revealed that Ribeiro has had a major relapse as far as his substance abuse addiction is concerned, and furthermore Perno indicated that Ribeiro has not put on skates and has not trained since the end of the season.

Making matters worse for Riberio, Perno also admitted to Labee that no team in the NHL and no team anywhere in Europe has reached out to him to inquire about the possibility of signing Ribeiro to a new deal.

While Ribeiro himself has not announced his retirement, Perno did state "he will be retiring" during the interview, leaving little doubt that Ribeiro's future in professional hockey is now non-existent.

It's a sad end to a twisted tale that at the end of the day will have the narrative of a very talented player who's problems off the ice finally won out.
