Breaking: NHL veteran will retire after 10 years in the league!

We have a surprise announcement from Minnesota Wild Mike Russo of The Athletic. 

2016-2017 was a rough season for National Hockey League veteran Ryan Carter, he appeared in just 16 American Hockey League games after a torn right labrum in his shoulder put a quick end to his professional tryout offer with the Wild.

Now according to Russo, Carter has confirmed that he will be stepping away from the game of hockey and will instead focus on his family life. Carter says that the damage to his body and his mind have taken a toll and he is ready to call it quitrs.

“This is the time of year where it gets a little weird,” said the 34-year-old as per Mike Russo's report. “Things are supposed to ramp up, I’m supposed to be busy, but I’m finding I have a lot of time right now with the girls in school. So it’s a little odd now. But I think I’m ready to be done playing. My body’s banged up, and mentally for a guy in my [hard-nosed, checking] role, it’s tough when your body isn’t well.”

Carter's career will end with 473 NHL games under his belt, a stretch over which he recorded 41 goals and 52 assists for 93 career points. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.
