According to multiple online reports former NHLer Martin Erat has retired from professional hockey after 17 seasons. Erat put up 176 goals and 545 points in 881 NHL games split between the Nashville Predators, Washington Capitals and Arizona Coyotes. He has spent the past three seasons playing in the Czech Extraliga for Brno Kometa.

Of course, what Erat is most known for is the fact that he was traded along with Michael Latta from the Preds to the Caps for… Filip Forsberg. Erat would score a grand total of two goals for the Caps over two seasons while Forsberg would go on to establish himself as one of the best players in Preds’ franchise history. Ouch.

Internationally, Erat was a mainstay for team Czech Republic, winning gold at the 2001 World Juniors, Olympic Bronze and World Championship Silver in 2006 and WC Bronze in 2012.
