The Carolina Hurricanes are having a hard time drawing any kind of audience to their building these days and now they have lost one of their most recognizable players to injury.

A breaking news report from Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News has revealed that number one center Jordan Staal has suffered a concussion, one that occurred during Carolina's match up against the Florida Panthers on Sunday night.

Alexander's source is general manager Ron Francis so this is 100% legit, and according to Francis there's no time table for Staal's return, something that obviously doesn't sound good.

No word yet on if the Hurricanes will move to place him on injured reserve or long-term injured reserve.
