Breaking: Oilers attempting to acquire 26-year-old defenseman.

The Edmonton Oilers are reportedly attempting to make a big move, but they have some stiff competition. 

TSN insider Darren Dreger is now reporting that the Oilers are among a number of National Hockey League teams who have interest in Czech defenseman Jan Rutta.

Rutta is a 26-year-old right-handed shot that has spent the last four years of his pro career playing for Chomutov Pirati of the Czech league where he has displayed the skills that has earned him consideration from several NHL organizations.

In his most recent season Rutta had 8 goals and 24 assists for 32 points in just 46 games. No word yet on if any team in particular has the inside track.
