It seems like the Edmonton Oilers have finally found a team who wants to make a trade with them.

For the past few days, trade chatter about Oilers goalie Cam Talbot has intensified to the point on Friday where TSN's Darren Dreger revealed that the netminder could be moved today or tomorrow.

On the air on Buffalo’s WGR 550 on Friday morning, Dreger explained how the Philadelphia Flyers and Oilers have been steadily talking about the move and it seems like it is now imminent. Dreger has explained that the Oilers would have to receive a goaltender back in the deal, which means Edmonton could end up with Brian Elliott, Anthony Stolarz or Mike McKenna.

“I do think that the Edmonton Oilers are going to move Cam Talbot, probably today or tomorrow,” indicated Dreger. “They’re still in a bit of a holding pattern, as I tweeted out, with the Philadelphia Flyers, so there’s no guarantee that they’re going to be able to get something done and close on this deal, but the indications are that it’s more likely than not. And Anthony Stolarz, whose contract expires - he’s a restricted free agent at the end of the year, is likely part of what would come back the other way.
“But again, they’re still trying to iron things out and close on it.”

Talbot, who is in the final season of a three-year, $12.5 million contract, which includes a modified no-trade clause, reportedly allowed the Oilers to speak with the Flyers about being moved there.

“I believe there was a gesture made to Cam Talbot by the Oilers yesterday to say, ‘Look, Philadelphia may not be on your modified no-trade list, but we’re going to talk to them about a potential trade. Are you okay with that?’

“And I’m told that obviously he acknowledged that that was okay.”

There is a link with Talbot and young Flyers goalie Carter Hart, which explains why the Oilers netminder is reportedly willing to join him there.

“He’s a good mentor, a great guy, a good goalie,” Hart said when asked about Talbot on Thursday, adding that he called him for advice on the night before his first NHL start.

According to John Boruk of NBC Sports Philadelphia, the Flyers would prefer to move Elliott in the deal. He is a pending free agent.

The move could come at the right time seeing that the Oilers need to clear $1.2 million in cap space for defenseman Andrej Sekera and trading Talbot for Elliott would free $1.4 million. However,  the 33-year-old has been out since Nov. 15 due to a lower-body injury and is currently on the Flyers' injured reserve.

Talbot has posted a 10-15-3 record with a goals-against average of 3.36 and a save percentage of .893. As for Elliott, he had 6-7 record this season with a .911 save percentage and a 2.59 goals-against average in 14 games prior to his injury.

Let's keep our eyes peeled.
