There is a lot of action in the recent days on the trade market as another moves comes our way on Friday. The Edmonton Oilers have traded centre  Ryan Strome to the  New York Rangers for centre Ryan Spooner.

Strome carries a $3.1-million cap hit while Spooner’s cap hit is $4 million. According to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman, the Rangers will retain $900,000 to even out the cap hits in the trade. Both players have two years left on their respective deals.

The trade sends Strome back to New York City after the Oilers acquired him from the New York Islanders in June of 2017. In 100 games with the Oilers, the 25-year-old managed to score 14 goals and a total 36 points. However this season, he has only one goal and two points in 18 games.

Spooner was acquired by the Rangers from the Boston Bruins at last season’s trade deadline in a deal that sent Rick Nash to Boston. The 26-year-old forward also has one goal and two points this season in 16 games, and in 36 total games with the Rangers he had four goals and 18 points.

Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli, who was the GM of the Bruins back in 2010, drafted Spooner then in the second round, 45th overall.
