The Edmonton Oilers have placed defenseman Eric Gryba on waiver for the purpose of assignment, the team announced on Friday. This move is a consequence of defenseman Oscar Klefbom being activated from the injured reserve.

Gryba, 29, was drafted 68th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 2006. The Oilers acquired him via trade in 2015. He played 279 games in the NHL with Edmonton and Ottawa, registering 43 points and 358 penalty minutes. He also played 13 playoffs games, without registering a point.

This season, the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native registered two points and 31 penalty minutes in 21 games.
