BREAKING: Original Six Team Adds Goaltender

Original Six team claims goaltender off of waivers.

Yesterday, HockeyFeed broke the news regarding the Columbus Blue Jackets opting to waive goaltender Curtis McElhinney after reports of head coach John Tortorella being dissatisfied with the 33-year-old's outing against the New York Rangers a few days ago. 


Minutes ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs decided to claim the veteran netminder:




While many believed that it was unfair for McElhinney to be waived, most were aware that the goalie would find himself a home before no time. After all, with a 2-1-0 record along with a 2.39 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage, there is no doubt that the Maple Leafs will benefit from adding a backup to Frederik Andersen as experiments with Jhonas Enroth as well as Antoine Bibeau have unfortuantely failed for the Original Six team. Moreover, Karri Ramo, who spent the better part of the year practicing with the team, has not played in an AHL game in over a month, reports Kristen Shilton of TSN:
