A number of National Hockey League athletes have spoken out about the recent anthem protests that have taken place in the National Football League with some players supporting the cause while others making it clear that they wouldn't ever be the ones kneeling.

The strongest support for the anthem protest has come from black hockey players like San Jose's Joel Ward and Tampa Bay's JT Brown, now however hockey's most prominent black player has spoken out and he is clearly not in favor of those very same protests.

According to a report from Yahoo SportsGreg Wyshynski Subban was performing at Zanies Comedy Club in Nashville on Tuesday night when he stated flatly that you would "never" see him kneeling during the national anthem.

Why won't he kneel?

Subban, a Canadian born player, cited the fact that he has far too much respect for the American flag to every engage in that type of protest, something that largely patriotic fans are likely to appreciate from the star defenseman.
