Breaking: Pastrnak could return tonight!

It feels more and more real. We could see David Pastrnak back in action on Tuesday night as the Boston Bruins face the New York Islanders. The Bruins star forward could return for the first time since injuring his thumb at a team event on Feb. 10.

After the morning skate on Tuesday, head coach Bruce Cassidy revealed that Pastrnak is a game-time decision for the contest. On Monday, Cassidy had confirmed that Pastrnak would return to the team’s top line with Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron when he’s cleared.

Pastrnak will continue to wear a splint on his thumb when he returns.

This is what practice's lines looked like:

Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak
DeBrusk-Krejci-Coyle
Heinen-Kuraly-Wagner
Nordstrom-Acciari-Backes
Carey

Pastrnak has 31 goals and 66 points in 56 games this season. The Bruins are 13-3-1 since Pastrnak was injured and are surely hoping to keep their hot streak going when he will return to the formation.

In other news, defenseman Torey Krug was also on the ice this morning. He took part in this morning’s optional pregame skate wearing a red non-contact jersey.

Krug has missed the last two games dealing with a concussion. Cassidy did reveal on Monday that the blue liner has been feeling "better," which helps his chances for an earlier return.

The 27-year-old has been outstanding this season, racking up 48 points in 59 games.
