Breaking: Pavelski cannot take part in crucial Game 6!
Zuma Press

It was announced earlier today that the San Jose Sharks would be without  forward Tomas Hertl and defenseman Erik Karlsson for tonight’s elimination game against the St. Louis Blues.

At that time, it was announced that captain Joe Pavelski was a game-time decision for the contest, however, breaking news just revealed that the Sharks will have to do without him tonight.

The fact that the Sharks had to get ready without both Hertl and Karlsson was already a huge blow, but this has gotten worse for San Jose.

While Karlsson has been clearly labouring this series, he’s still a dynamic playmaker with game changing skill. And Hertl… well aside from maybe Logan Couture, he’s been the team’s best player this postseason with 10 goals and 15 points in 19 games. Losing either of these players, let alone BOTH, of these players is obviously a tough pill for the Sharks to swallow.

Now add Pavelski, who has four goals and nine points in 14 playoff games, to that list, we wonder how the Sharks will manage to pull this one off tonight to force another Game 7 back home on Thursday night…

Here is the expected lineup for the Sharks tonight:

Meier-Couture-Nyquist
Sorensen-Thornton-Labanc
Kane-Gambrell-Donskoi
Haley-Goodrow-Karlsson

Ryan-Burns
Vlasic-Braun
Dillon-Heed

Jones
