We have a surprise update to announce.

It looks like the San Jose Sharks will in fact not have veteran forward Joe Pavelski with them tonight when they face off against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night. According to a breaking news report from TSN National Hockey League insider Pierre LeBrun, the Sharks captain has officially been ruled out by San Jose Sharks head coach Peter Deboer for Game 6.

Now this may not seem like a surprise initially given that Pavelski has yet to play in a single game during the course of this series, but there were signs this morning that the Sharks captain was well on his way to being back into the Sharks line up. Sharks reporter Sheng Peng of Fear the Fin shared a video on social media earlier today that showed Pavelski taking part in the San Jose Sharks morning skate ahead of Game 6. That is usually an indication that an injured player is ready to re-enter the line up, especially in the playoffs, however that will not be the case this evening.

Obviously the loss of their captain continues to be a huge hindrance to the Sharks, however they have managed to take 3 games off the Avalanche thus far without him in the line up and they will get a chance to close out the series in 6 games this evening.

For those of you who missed our earlier update, the Colorado Avalanche will also be without one of their veteran forwards this evening as Matt Calvert has also officially been ruled out of Game 6.
