Breaking: Penguins about to lose one of their prospects.

The Pittsburgh Penguins made a huge move yesterday and, make no mistake about it, it was the right move to make, but it may come at a cost.

Sportsnet insider Elliotte Friedman is now reporting that 22-year-old center Blaine Byron is now expected to become a free-agent, the former Pittsburgh Penguins draft pick was originally expected to sign with the team.

This appears to be a scenario in which Byron feels that the addition of Zachary Aston-Reese to the roster yesterday would greatly limit his opportunities to make the Penguins NHL squad. Byron was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 draft, and is frankly far less touted a prospect than Aston-Reese is at this point.

Nonetheless this is not an ideal scenario for Pittsburgh, but the Penguins will be more than happy with their decision to sign Aston-Reese regardless.
