In the wake of injuries to Kris Letang, Matt Murray, Chad Ruhwedel, and Bryan Rust, Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Jim Rutherford has announced that the organization has recalled three players from the American Hockey League.
Casey DeSmith's most recent stint with the team occurred during Matt Murray's previous injury that stretched through the end of November and into December.
Murray is currently listed as day-to-day and hasn't been placed on injured reserve like his other three teammates. Andrey Pedan and Garrett Wilson come in as insurance for the losses of Ruhwedel on the blue line and Rust up front.
Wilson has 14 points in 25 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, while the defenseman Pedan has 10 points in 26 games this season.
