Breaking: Penguins get great news ahead of pivotal game tonight!

When the Pittsburgh Penguins announced on Sunday that they were going to be without star forward Evgeni Malkin for the next little while, it was quite a big blow to the team.

However, the Penguins can rejoice after getting some positive news on Tuesday morning, ahead of tonight's important contest against the Carolina Hurricanes in the tight Eastern Conference race for the playoffs.

It was revealed that star blue liner Kris Letang was on the ice for Pens morning skate and was wearing a normal full-contact jersey. Olli Maatta joined his teammates for the first time wearing a red no-contact jersey.

Letang took part in rushes at his usual spot, so this will certainly encourage the Penguins and their fanbase.

Tonight's contest is quite important as the Penguins currently sit in third place of the Metropolitan division. A Hurricanes win in regulation could narrow the gap between the two teams to just one point. The two teams will face for the last time this season on March, 31st.

Here is the lineup from today's practice:

McCann-Crosby-Guentzel
Rust-Blueger-Kessel
Simon-Bjugstad-Hornqvist
Blandisi-Cullen-Wilson

Dumoulin-Letang
Johnson-Schultz
Pettersson-Gudbranson
