Breaking: Penguins sign the top free agent out of college.

Today is a good day if you're a Penguins fan.

The team has just announced that they have signed by far the most dominant player in this year's crop of free agent talent out of college. The team has released an official statement to welcome Zachary Aston-Reese to the Penguins.

From the Penguins:

The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed college free agent forward Zach Aston-Reese to a two-year, entry-level contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.

The contract will begin with the 2017-18 season and run through the 2018-19 campaign.

Aston-Reese will report to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this weekend on an amateur tryout contract this year.

Aston-Reese was a monster in college, and it was his latest and most dominant season that turned the heads of just about every organization in the National Hockey League. The young man's most recent campaign with Northeastern University's Huskies saw him record 31 goals and 32 assists for 63 points in 38 games.
