The Pittsburgh Penguins may have won back to back Stanley Cup Championships but they are always trying to improve at every level of the organization, and on Friday they took another step towards doing that.

In an official announcementfrom the Penguins organization, the team revealed that they have signed veteran center Jay McClement to a professional tryout offer indicating that he will be joining the Penguins for training camp.

McClement is a veteran of over 900 National Hockey League games and has spent the last three seasons of his NHL career with the Carolina Hurricanes. He also spent time as a member of the St. Louis Blues, Colorado Avalanche and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

He also has some very solid international experience as a member of Team Canada with a gold medal as well as a pair of silver medals under his belt.

It's important to note that a PTO is not a contract, and the Penguins could release McClement at any time should they chose to do so.
