Breaking: Penguins star sidelined with an injury ahead of some big games.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are headed into a very important stretch ahead of the trade deadline, and they will be forced to do it without one of their biggest stars.

Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan announced on Thursday that forward Evgeni Malkin would be sidelined for at least the next two games as a result of a "nagging" injury. While Sullivan did not specify what was ailing Malkin we have learned it is a lower-body injury.

Furthermore the injury appears significant enough that it will prevent Malkin from travelling with the team this weekend, instead according to Sullivan he will remain in Pittsburgh and work on rehabilitating whatever it is that ails him.

The Penguins face the Lightning and Panthers in their next two games, both Eastern conference teams competing for post season positions.
