While he clearly did not mean them to be inflammatory, you certainly have to question the timing of these comments from veteran Carl Hagelin with his team currently holding a 2-0 series lead. in the Stanley Cup Final.

According to a report from Sam Werner of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Penguins veteran left winger is not happy about the fact that he has been riding the bench as of late, and while that's certainly understandable, now is not the time to be saying so.

“I think every time when the game starts and you’re not out there you’re going to be [ticked] off,” Hagelin said. “It doesn’t do you any good being [ticked] off on a day like this. You’ve got to go out there and do whatever you can to make you better, and make you prepared for whatever’s thrown at you.

While Hagelin did double down on his disappointment later during his comments, he also added that the focus should not be on him as an individual but rather on his team.

“First when you find out, it’s disappointing,” Hagelin said. “You’re frustrated, you’re [ticked] off. But it’s the Stanley Cup final. It’s not about me, it’s about the team. Whenever you get the chance, you’ve got to be ready.”

If Hagelin does in fact suit up this for Game 3, expectations will be very high indeed.
