BREAKING: Penguins Waive Defenseman
Keystone Press

It appears as though the Pittsburgh Penguins' blue line is experiencing personnel changes.

Minutes ago, the Penguins announced that they have placed the name of 30-year-old defenseman Steve Oleksy on waivers, according to NBC:

Oleksy has played in only 71 games in his National Hockey League career, posting three goals and 20 points during stints with the Washington Capitals along with the Penguins over the course of the last four years.

Known more for his toughness, his best NHL season was in 2013-2014 where he recorded two goals and 10 points in 33 games played while notching 55 penalty minutes. The season before, he fought a grand total of 14 times though only three of those scraps were at the NHL level while the remaining 11 were against American Hockey League foes.
