Well it finally happened, Greg Pateryn has been traded.

The Montreal Canadiens defenseman was on borrowed time from the very moment his wife took to social media and made bigotted comments towards both former Canadiens coach Michel Therrien as well as current head coach Claude Julien, and today marks his final day as a Canadien.

From the Canadiens official announcement:

The Canadiens acquired defenseman Jordie Benn from the Dallas Stars on Monday in exchange for defenseman Greg Pateryn and a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

Benn, 29, played 58 games with the Stars during the 2016-17 campaign. He scored two goals and added 13 assists for 15 points, while also posting a minus-3 differential and amassing 24 penalty minutes.

This trade appears to stem almost entirely from the incident involving Pateryn's wife, and the player is likely happy to be out of what had to be an incredibly humiliating locker room situation for him.
