Breaking: Player safety announces punishment for Bortuzzo.

The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has announced discipline for St. Louis Blues veteran defenseman Robert Bortuzzo.

The NHL enforcer crossed the line on Monday, at least as far as NHL Player Safety is concerned, when he delivered a serious of crosschecks to the back of New York Islanders' forward Brock Nelson.

Nelson ran into Blues defenseman Magnus Paajarvi, and although that appeared to be an accidental collision between both men, Bortuzzo snapped and went after Nelson in rather vicious fashion.

As a result NHL Player Safety has issued the maximum possible fine to Bortuzzo, a fine in the amount of 3,091.40.
