Powerful defenseman announces he leaves the NHL to play in the KHL

This is quite a story to wake up to as the Vancouver Canucks lost one powerful defenseman as he signed a deal in the KHL.

Nikita Tryamkin is a 6ft7, 265-pound defenseman that already played 4-years in the KHL before joining the Vancouver Canucks. The 22-year-old defenseman was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks on the 2014 NHL entry draft (Round 3, 66 overall)

Tryamkin signed back to the KHL with hometown team Avtomobilist. Tryamkin played the last two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks. He scored 3 goals and registered 8 assists for a total 11 points in 79 games.

While it is still unclear why he made that decision, many insiders on twitter speculate it might be due to the NHL decision of not letting their player go to the Olympics. Others blame the bad management for giving him low ice time.
