Breaking: Pro hockey legend passes away this morning.

Some very sad news to report this morning

According to a breaking news report from Sportsnet's hockey insider Elliotte Friedman pro hockey legend John Brophy passed away this morning, he was 83 years old.

Most fans will remember Brophy as the head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs for parts of three seasons from 1986 to 1988, but Brophy had a passion for minor hockey, and his coaching career is one of the most celebrated in the sport's history. Brophy's career boasts a whopping 1,027 wins and only NHL legend Scotty Bowman can boast more victories.

According to Friedman Brophy succumbed to a battle with various health issues, no other details were mad available at this time. He also shared a recent photo of Brophy alongside Chicago Blackhawk's vice-president of hockey operations Al McIsaac who shared his Stanley Cup victory with Brophy.

Our condolences go out to the entire family.
