The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they’ve signed forward Jacob De La Rose to a one year, one-way contract worth $725,000.

The 22 year-old forward went pointless with the Habs in 9 games last season, but produced 14 goals and 31 points in 62 games with the team’s AHL affiliate in St John’s. It’s expected that he’ll compete for a spot on the big club in 2017-18 and could even sneak his way into the team’s top six forward group with a strong early season showing.

De La Rose was selected in the 2nd round (34th overall) by the Candiens in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. In 64 career NHL games the native of Arvika, Sweden has produced four goals and seven points. Look for those numbers to take a dramatic uptick in 2017-18.
