Breaking: Rangers broadcaster arrested on fraud charges

WFAN morning radio host Craig Carton has been arrested on securities fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy charges. The loud-mouthed New York Rangers critic was allegedly the ring-leader in a $5.6 million scam orchestrated to cover millions of dollars in gambling debt owed to two casinos.

“Behind all the talk, the Carton and Wright show was just a sham, designed to fleece investors out of millions ultimately to be spend on payments to casinos,” said U.S. Attorney Joon Kim.

The high-profile Carton was arrested in his home shortly before he was scheduled to co-host the “Boomer & Carton Show” on WFAN with legendary New York Jets star Boomer Esiason. Carton is alleged to have lured investors into a phony ticket reselling business that was really just a front to cover his gambling debts.
