Breaking: Rangers cut top prospect, despite strong showing in preseason
Keystone Press

The New York Rangers have announced that they’ve assigned forward Filip Chytil to the AHL’s Hartford Wolfpack. The 18-year-old center was drafted 21st overall by the Rangers in this June’s 2017 NHL Entry Draft and looked strong during training camp and the preseason. However, yesterday’s addition of Adam Cracknell off of waivers from the Dallas Stars put into question Chytil’s season with the Rangers.

Chytil scored just four goals and eight points in 38 games with the Czech League’s Zlin ZPS last season, but it’s clear that the young center has much more to give offensively. Look for him to become a point producer in the AHL this season and earn another call-up with the Rangers before the season ends. Keep your eye on this kid, he’s going to be dynamite.
