Breaking: Rangers hire Leech and Richards

The New York Rangers have named Brian Leetch and Brad Richards Hockey Operations Advisors.

The news came in the form of a tweet posted by the New York Rangers official Twitter account this morning.


Both players will work with he team's hockey operations in both hockey-related decisions along with off-ice player and prospect development. In addition, Leetch and Richards will assist prospects in the Rangers organization, including players with the Rangers' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, in on-ice development.

Leetch was drafted by the Rangers as their first-round selection in 1986 where he played 17 of his 18 NHL seasons with the Rangers finishing with 247 goals and 781 assists for 1,028 points in 1,205 games. 

In three seasons with New York, Richards had 46 goals and 151 points in 210 regular-season games, and 28 points in 55 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
