Breaking: Rangers top prospect Kravtsov leaves team
Zuma Press

Friday is a key date for Vitali Kravtsov and his future with the New York Rangers and Larry Brooks of The New York Post has announced that the top prospect is heading back home.

When the kid signed his entry level contract earlier this year, he had the intention to crack the main roster, however, Kravtsov was sent to Hartford together with 2017 1st rounder Filip Chytil.

That’s why today he exercised his European Assignment Clause and signed with KHL Chelyabinsk.

While he had a chance to impress in the American Hockey League, the 19-year-old didn’t so well, putting up just one assist in five games.

The Rangers were hoping he would stay as they didn’t want him to go back. The team would have preferred for him to stay and play with less time and space and get used to smaller ice.

Kravtsov played with Traktor Chelyabinsk of the KHL last season where he had eight goals and 13 assists in 50 games. He also collected six points in seven games at the world junior championship, where he won bronze, and appeared in the KHL all-star game.

He’s going back home to Russia.
