The Detroit Red Wings have assigned defensemen Filip Hronek to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Further to that, Wings head coach Jeff Blashill also announced that he hopes to have veteran defensemen Mike Green back in the lineup for Friday night’s game against the visiting Winnipeg Jets.

The 33 year old Green has yet to play a game for the Wings this season as he was placed on the injured reserve with a serious liver condition. He’s been on the mend for the past three weeks and appears to be good enough to go for Friday night’s game.

As for Hronek, the 20 year old former 2nd round pick of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft managed one goal and three points in six games with the Wings during his first stint with the team. Look for him to earn another call up at some point this season. In 67 games with the Griffins last season, Hronek put up an impressive 11 goals and 39 points as a teenager. Not bad. Not bad at all.
