BREAKING: Red Wings Name New Assistant Captain

Justin Abdelkader has been named as the alternate captain for the Detroit Red Wings. The 29-year-old has spent his entire career with the Red Wings, and thus it is fitting that the veteran earned himself an “A” on his jersey.

Evidently, with the loss of Pavel Datsyuk to the KHL during the offseason, Abdelkader is the ideal candidate to take on a stronger leadership role and help guide many of the younger players.
