There have been rumors for the past 48 hours suggesting that the Detroit Red Wings could be bringing a National Hockey League veteran back from the Kontinental Hockey League, but now it's as good as official.

One of the premier Red Wings' insiders, Helen St. James of the Detroit Free Press, is now reporting that the Red Wings are in fact bringing in former Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Booth.

The winger has spent his last two professional seasons with Vladivostok Admiral and Omsk Avangard of the KHL, but obviously the Red Wings feel he can still compete at the NHL level.

Booth has not been given an NHL contract however, according to St. James this is merely a professional tryout offer, meaning the Red Wings could cut him at any point should they feel the need to do so.
