BREAKING: Red Wings Recall no.1 Prospect
Keystone Press

The Detroit Red Wings held onto a 3-1 lead against the Vancouver Canucks last night in order to win their second game in a row. Prior to that, they managed to do something they had not done against the Flyers since 1997: defeat them at the Wells Fargo Center.

While it may seem that head coach Jeff Blashill’s troops might be headed in the right direction after having lost six games in a row, injuries are starting to affect the team. With Thomas Vanek out with a hip injury until at least November 18th and rookie Andreas Athanasiou expected to miss action for at least one to two weeks, Detroit’s organization has proceeded to make a very important decision.

Fans will be thrilled to know that the seemingly estranged Anthony Mantha of the Grand Rapids Griffins has been called up by the Red Wings. Many will be quick to say that this was a long time coming, and after scoring eight goals through 10 games while adding two assists, his impact should be felt immediately.
