Referee accused of showing up drunk for a game

According to an early report from Leclerc communication, a referee is accused of showing up drunk for a game.

On Feb. 24th in Drummondville, Nicolas Leduc, 31-years-old, a referee in the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior Hockey League), showed up drunk for the game.

Nicolas Leduc is a former hockey player, who was close to becoming a NHL referee before being the victim of a terrible accident. His brain was damaged as the result of a severe concussion. Leduc slipped on the bathroom floor and as a result ended up hitting his head hard on the edge of the bath.

Some sources reported that after Leduc was confronted by his colleague, he went straight back home. One of his colleagues was a Police Officer and was shocked by Leduc’s behavior.

Due to his behavior, the game was forced to take place with only 3 referees on the ice. Shockingly, Nicolas Leduc has not been suspended following the incident and has since covered 3 other games.

The QJMHL management released an official statement in which they condemn Leduc’s behavior.
